OREGON'S HORSEMAN BENEVOLENT AND PROTECTIVE ASSOCIATION

The focus is to foster, promote and encourage a higher level of public acceptance and public relations of the thoroughbred horse industry in the State of Oregon.

 

OREGON RACING COMMISSION

The Oregon Racing Commission (ORC) offers industry information, racing policy requirements, and rules as well as a wealth of information covering all aspects of the operation. The ORC regulate and facilitates all aspects of the peri-mutuel industry in the State of Oregon.

 

OREGON'S QUARTER HORSE RACING ASSOCIATION

The mission of this association is to provide beneficial services to their members including racing opportunities for all quarter horse owners, breeders, stallion owners and trainers participating in the state of Oregon. This association is also a great source for communication and representation on behalf of quarter horse interests before the Oregon Racing Commission and the Oregon Legislature.

 

OREGON THOROUGHBRED OWNERS AND BREEDERS ASSOCIATION

The Oregon TOBA administers incentive programs to reward our owners and breeders of Oregon-breds. The promote public interest through promotion and advancement of the breeding and racing of Oregon Thoroughbreds.

 

LIFE AFTER RACING

Exercising good stewardship in working to connect race horses to new homes and careers after racing is a goal for the horse racing industry. There are many wonderful organizations that are dedicated to this purpose and an abundance of heartwarming stories of new careers for horses after racing.

 

 

CANTER: The Communication Alliance to Network Thoroughbred Ex-Racehorses provides retiring racehorses with opportunities for new careers. They are a national organization run by volunteers and have placed over 25,000 OTTBs (Off Track Thoroughbreds).

 

Humanity for Horses: This 501c3 organization offers sanctuary not only to horses but other animals in need. They are accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries and thoroughbred After Care Alliance.

 

Off Track Thoroughbreds: This blog is dedicated to telling success stories of off-track Thoroughbreds who transition into next careers, or retirement. In November 2016, author Susan Salk made the decision to suspend writing and operations of this blog, however, it is filled with amazing stories of success and career changes made by Ex-Racehorses that race horse enthusiasts will enjoy.
