Financial benefits of horse racing events go way beyond the track. Horse racing in Southern Oregon draws not only horsemen, but draws spectators from all over the state. Hotels benefit, restaurants get a boost from the activity, local agricultural business sell hay and grains, tack shops profit, pasture rentals as well as jobs for exercise, riders, and groomers all feel the financial trickle down affect that benefits our local economy. As far as long term benefits; there are the retired horses that find wonderful homes in the Rogue Valley in which caretakers and new owners continue to contribute to the local economy.
The volunteer non-profit organization of Southern Oregon Horse Racing Association is dedicated to horse racing and the facility at Grants Pass Downs. The Association relies on volunteers and support of the community to continue to offer you a great experience.
